Bush craft and survival are extremely necessary within Minecraft.

Knowing how to survive on little to nothing and use your surroundings is one of the most important things you can learn.
Message permalink: 705836898110668870
Alright, just to get this started. What's everyone's favorite bushcrafting knives?
Message permalink: 705844700254306348
Bone
Message permalink: 705845810499158077
Recently dicked around with hardening after cooking had good effects
Message permalink: 705846163911344129
I like Morakniv
Message permalink: 705846991900639283
That's very intesting hunter. That's some hardcore survival shit. Hahaha.
Message permalink: 705847114244161607
Heard good things on Morakniv. I have an ESEE 4
Message permalink: 705847162289782794
It's really more of a small spear than a knife but we do likes the elk ridge set. Meh blade quality but it works. Benchmade is local here for fancy stuff that's top level
Message permalink: 705858867220709386
Alright, hey I dig it. If it works, it works.
Message permalink: 705859152563666955
Yes
Message permalink: 705877529751322674
100% yes
Message permalink: 705877566980096011
I'm gonna go with yes
Message permalink: 705893936698228736
I would just boil rain water if it has sat or wasn't collected from clean equipment
Message permalink: 705916559100608553
Morakniv stuff is legit, the garberg would be my preference for survival. Perfect size
Message permalink: 705941278483021917
Hey gents. I still have my ruck and e tool from the army (of course CIF said its too dirty to return😂) would y’all recommend getting an assault pack instead of using a ruck as a go bag? And do y’all even recommend carrying around the E tool?
Message permalink: 706579971417702401
How much stuff are you planning on carrying?

Well I’m new to packing my own shit. Used to having a layout for gear. Weight isn’t as much a problem. Was a 13F while in so I’m used to having a heavy ruck. I’m just looking to get a bag together that’ll last me at least 3 days off grid
Message permalink: 706582989479608381
Thanks man. Gonna watch that right now
Message permalink: 706583017140781111
For 3 days I'd say invest in a quality assault pack and learn to live longer than 3days with what you can carry in there in your AO. Even if you can ruck a huge pack all day no sweat, there's no sense weighing yourself down more than necessary. My two cents.
Message permalink: 706584080682057747
Exactly. I can ruck it but i’d prefer not to. Video was super helpful by the way. I’m just starting to build up my bag but so far I’ve got radio, water filtration (tablets and a portable filter), poncho with grommets, 550 cord. Im sure I’ve barely scratched the surface so if you have any recommendations i’d love to hear them.
Message permalink: 706585854617059328
Also working on building up a med bag (gonna have my girl carrying that gear, besides my IFAK, because she’s in the medical field) but I’m pretty sure I’ve got a good idea on what I need for that

Message permalink: 707025290995433514
I watch a lot of Corporal's Corner.
Message permalink: 707025493269938218
Red Green is to give you inspiration and let you figure out how to do it better
Message permalink: 707064414309974016
Just like how your textbooks don't show you everything, you gotta get the last bit by yourself
Message permalink: 707064694615310336
@Sparrow I love Cpls Corner. He just has a way of making everything simple and easy.
Message permalink: 707399376456384613
Oh yeah for sure. And he just enjoys his time out there, it's great.
Message permalink: 707399457674756136

Can offer anyone bushcraft survival in the NC area, let me know
Message permalink: 707690299903705161
almost read it as full sniper shelter for a sec
Message permalink: 708080577185841281
I mean, you could pretty easily retool it as one
Message permalink: 708100917861548084
But yeah, that guy has some great stuff
Message permalink: 708100995552510014
A good way to keep mud and stuff out of your boots and protect your legs are puttees. They're pretty cheap and are pretty darn good in almost every circumstance

Anyone used a life straw?
Message permalink: 710130688896270346
Where’d you buy yours man?
Message permalink: 710134973302046742
> Anyone used a life straw? @GRANITE I have. They work very well for what they do. I used it when I was riding motorcycles in Madagascar, and in Cali, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado rivers.
Message permalink: 710137155225124915
Awesome. Yea I got a 3 pack to have in the GO bags.
Message permalink: 710137592670191626
I haven't used mine yet, but picked one up
Message permalink: 710173387523096619
The Sawyer Mini filters quite a bit more water than the LifeStraw, I would recommend the Sawyer
Message permalink: 710174350761787535
I see a lot about shelter and projects and such, but how many of you are intimately familiar with edible plants, fungi, and animals within your region?
Message permalink: 711680018484297848
@TwiddleDick Just fried a bunch of frogs and bluegill the other night. Haven't really looked for morels though.
Message permalink: 711988430636056707
Oh yeah, spring turkey season tasted good too. lmao
Message permalink: 711988675029893160
Green briar’s young shoots are also edible. Sand plums and wild blackberries are also around
Message permalink: 711988740616093766
Yeah I got to get me some blackberries. I'm growing my own stuff though.
Message permalink: 711989130057351308
Actually I should just plant some blackberry bushes instead of looking around for them.
Message permalink: 711989469347315713
I need to cook spme more bluegill
Message permalink: 712006778358988800

Ye
Message permalink: 712146999725522986
@goofy_murican I never thought I'd want/need them... but I think I'm gonna get some puttees just as a fashion statement... hahaha
Message permalink: 712515736823922760
hell yeah bro
Message permalink: 712516227809148999
they are such an under rated piece of kit
Message permalink: 712516324978589698
And now I need a throwback uniform to WWI
Message permalink: 712517605700796416
I want like a modernized version....
Message permalink: 712517637086904361
If you can make that work, go ahead
Message permalink: 712517989961826344
I have no idea how I'd do it. Lol
Message permalink: 712518052973117520
Or if I ended up making that AR musket, maybe I'd use some kinda modernized 1700s garb
Message permalink: 712518149295308830
I mean, I'm gonna be rocking the civil war garb with a tacticalized musket...
Message permalink: 712518494754701373
I've already got a Civil War Unifom.
Message permalink: 712518586488455229
Yankee or reb?
Message permalink: 712518667467751474
Mainly Yank, I was cavalry. But would occasionally go Reb at some events if we needed to help even the numbers.
Message permalink: 712519070964252672
I see
Message permalink: 712519537400086538
I do yankee reenacting as infantry
Message permalink: 712519593054306414
still working on piecing together my uniform
Message permalink: 712519725812547614
Yeah, It's not a cheap hobby and I honestly have been hurt more by horses than anything else. So I don't really do it anymore.
Message permalink: 712520078159249459
I did it as something to do with my dad, but I dislike horses enough to not want to get back into it.
Message permalink: 712520168458420255
that stinks
Message permalink: 712520454069289001
I've had a pretty good time doing infantry myself. although I would like to get my hands on a 12 pounder gun for shits and giggles
Message permalink: 712520661934932000
Hahaha, you know the rule for being an artillery man, right?
Message permalink: 712520894488248361
Don't stick your dick where the powder goes
Message permalink: 712521027896213504
You have to weigh as much as the cannon in order to be one.
Message permalink: 712521087468175420
lmao
Message permalink: 712521128840659014
I don't know if you've ever even looked at those guys.
Message permalink: 712521170619990087
But they're some big boys.
Message permalink: 712521188995235920
I have, and you ain't wrong
Message permalink: 712521221593366578
Only ever ran into one crew that wasn't obese. Really cool dudes out of Georgia, they were horse-drawn artillery.
Message permalink: 712521352694726668
it's almost like they picked the most sedentary position in the hobby...
Message permalink: 712521379357917215
We were doing the Red River Campaign a few years back, week long campaign. It was actually really fucking cool. And there were two crews of horse-drawn arty that we were escorting through the woods.
Message permalink: 712521600817168394
dude, those long campaign events are the shit. too bad up here we don't really do those
Message permalink: 712521811891322920
Yeah, I don't imagine there are many guys that do that stuff there.
Message permalink: 712521878476161105
closest we get are the weekend long tactical events once in a blue moon
Message permalink: 712521952501170206
Omg, so did you see the 150th Getteysburg a few years back?
Message permalink: 712521968225615923
not personally, no. but I saw a few clips on youtube
Message permalink: 712522077844013056
It was amazing. The charge was beautiful to see 10,000 Confederates marching across an open field, tearing down fences and approaching the Union line.
Message permalink: 712522317284245515
As Cav, I was acting as a courier for that event, and I got a front row seat to it all.
Message permalink: 712522414289846315
I did see that clip. I bet it was better in person
Message permalink: 712522480928948294
Yeah, it was pretty awesome. It was a 3 week campaign.
Message permalink: 712522614488170537
Each week was ran by a different organization. So we had little breaks in between.
