This is something I can speak to specifically with some knowledge and background.

Aside from the commonly asked questions about getting started with comms and what radios should one get, I think this group chat should really be focused on developing a frequency plan and share scanning updates on local and state wide transmissions of importance.

All good ideas but keep in mind anything posted here is going to be seen by LE.

They can scan the airwaves to find Tx anyways, that is where encryption comes in if people have the means.

The point is you can use standard comms for an op or 2 before they start looking...unless you posted the details on a monitored platform.

Pertinent details can be ironed out per op in person but general discussions can still be held in the open. I just want to see this chat get more technical than the two most commonly asked questions in the other Comms group on any platform.

I've ordered a baofeng uv5r and downloaded the pdf from one of the file shares here. 530 pages and a bunch of studying but I'm moving on it.

@KGBSeeSpots687 - If you don't know about setting up a radio for use, a Baofeng is as good a place to start as any. Did you order the programming cable as well?

I think the package i ordered comes with several accessories, including the cable and extended battery, but I'll have to check.

If you got a bundle, cool, otherwise they usually don't ship with one.....unless things changed in the last few years. Either way, just confirm so you can begin using Chirp when it arrives.

Confirmed. Should be delivered in the next few days. I'm guessing chirp would be a computer based program, not something for a mobile device or tablet?

I’m interested in this too I got the same radio bundle a few months ago and have yet to figure it out. I was able to chirp it but I have yet to pick up any transmissions so I’m not sure I did it correctly
