@KnightArkane dont modify the SKS I have found they are never as reliable once you start fucking with them. Use it in its original configuration and become proficient with it dont try to turn it into something it wasn't intended for
Message permalink: 705462112951992363
Get an AK47 variant or get an SKS-D
Message permalink: 705462303012945931
@BugsyBaldwin I second that
Message permalink: 705462501009260654
Completely agreed. Don't fuck with an SKS, you ruin it's reliability.
Message permalink: 705462551160291431
Anyone ever had to open up the ejection port on an ar? My 9mm gets a case stuck inside at ejection once in a while.
Message permalink: 705463548146483220
Just spotted these sitting at a civi airport in San Juan PR while doing some Google Earth mapping for work. Anybody want to head down there to "requisition" them with me?
Message permalink: 705464132291264592
I've had that issue of my Kel-tec. I know, poor quality weapons, I just thought the sub2000 was cool, lol
Message permalink: 705464228324180058
Keltec isn't terrible but they are not top tier either I had the SU16E and I really liked it. I still kick myself in the ass for selling it
Message permalink: 705464835890217062
They have some really cool designs. But only like half of them actually work well.
Message permalink: 705464928840187974
Heard their bullpups are not to bad.
Message permalink: 705465035044159558
I've heard decent things on the EDB

And Jedi, I don't know how to fly too well, lol..
Message permalink: 705465173552660520
Plus, it's a bit far for me
Message permalink: 705465197644742696
Yeah I haven't shot any of their bullpup but they felt nice in the hands at the gun store
Message permalink: 705465243228176466
I've both the RFB and RDB. The RFB is fickle but the RDB gives the Tavor a good run for the money.
Message permalink: 705465272416469126
Hmmm, well. That's good to hear. I'm actually really struggling to decide between a 14.5, 16 or 18 inch barrel for my next build...
Message permalink: 705465474351104200
I already have a 16, but it's not free float. And I don't have the other lengths
Message permalink: 705465532480094288
The Tavor is really nice for a Bullpup but the FS2000 was like butter I'd give my left nut to get one
Message permalink: 705465572976099338
I basically want it to be an loo-tastic rifle
Message permalink: 705465609722265632
My VZ58 is my freedom keeper that's part of the reason I had left it fairly stock as there is less shit to break or worry about
Message permalink: 705465864312455299
The Tavor SAR comes in a 16.5" and 18" barrel. The OAL length of the 18" model is 27". The OAL of the RDB is 27.3" with a 17" barrel . You can't SBR with that length of barrel........
Message permalink: 705466070403645501
True, but I like the AR platform, I'm not a huge fan of bullpups
Message permalink: 705466206441963540
I have years of experience with an AR, and the manual of arms is second nature to me.
Message permalink: 705466280567636028
I own an AR only because the asshole sperm donor I am 1/2 of wanted me to have one before he died, so I got a freebie.
Message permalink: 705466564681531422
Huh, well. That's one way to get a rifle.
Message permalink: 705466695166459965
A Ruger SR556.
Message permalink: 705466856470872156
Ahhh, got ya. I haven't touched a Ruger AR... it just seems like an odd company to make ARs
Message permalink: 705467071726878861
They are a Fudd gun company, which their stuff is good. I guess I just don't trust em to make ARs
Message permalink: 705467149107331082
The SR series was mid-tier. I like it but ARs have never been my favorite, even if I did get paid to shoot M-16A2s in a younger life.
Message permalink: 705467525927796816
Haha, I actually ran some old FN M16A2 just a couple months ago at a reflexive fire range.
Message permalink: 705467873535197266
The bastard still kicks.
Message permalink: 705467919856828448
I remember first day on the range and my first three shots overlapped high to the left. My DI looked at me and said more of that but in the middle.
Message permalink: 705468548516020235
Haha, good. I've liked AR platforms forever. Hell, I had a Green Beret CPT compliment my shooting at the reflexive fire. I told him he should see me when I have my personal rifle, hahaha.
Message permalink: 705468865102217238
Most ruger centerfire is meme tier trash, though I've heard good things about the ruger precision rifle. If you're looking for an all around igloo gun, I'd say a free floated mlok 16" ar with adjustable gas block. If you plan on running a suppressor or just live in a suburban area, maybe an 11.5-12.5 pistol
Message permalink: 705473567013339156
Already have a 11.5 and I like it. But based out of KY, I need something I can use in both.
Message permalink: 705474014696702053
I might go for middle ground at do 16"...
Message permalink: 705474091049680967
What's your area like? I understand Kentucky has some wide spaces and mountains. If you're out away from the city I might even say an 18" wwsd rifle
Message permalink: 705474347342626886
So I have a variety of small to medium towns around, with wooded areas and some fields in between. And a city less than an hour away
Message permalink: 705474742387474543
So was thinking a 14.5 carbine, or a 18 SPR
Message permalink: 705474804764901377
Also, I wanna hear on what people think is more effective. Slick plate carrier and chest rig for more options? Or decked out plate carrier to keep everything together?
Message permalink: 705480895682838610
Everything together in my opinion
Message permalink: 705481073739432017
Mission drives gear god damnit
Message permalink: 705481131645993052
Well Crye, obviously. I'm just curious as to what people think fits their situation.
Message permalink: 705481244837806154
Hence why I have two gear sets. For two seperate missions.
Message permalink: 705481311782961263
In a SHTF situation, you’re gonna take twice as long gearing up.
Message permalink: 705481320444461077
Now, certain situations, I could see concealable armor under a jacket or shirt, but as far as a grab and go scenario, definitely together
Message permalink: 705481813312929862
While I have a minimalist pc, if shit hits the fan, I don't have time to gear up. If I'm lucky, I can grab a few of the many mags stashed around my house while my rifle is in hand
Message permalink: 705482094834352269
Grab and go where? Against who? Is this a permissive or non-permissive environment? Do you have logistical support?
Message permalink: 705482124840534038
Precisely, I'm curious as to where... "go" locations come into play. Do you have a spot in mind for that? Or are you gonna run into the woods?
Message permalink: 705482362733199370
Also, screw it, opinion/roasts?
Message permalink: 705482513929207918
Lots of roasts, but at least you have NODs
Message permalink: 705482595420471316
I’m thinking PC with chest rig.
Message permalink: 705482668149702657
For civilians, we typically don't have "missions," just reacting in self defense. If you have a mission, you can tailor your kit to it before it starts. Otherwise it's best to look like a normal dude with a concealed holster
Message permalink: 705482706837962814
You can switch out depending on mission setting.
Message permalink: 705482709656666184
There’s always a “mission”. If you don’t have one, it’s only because you’ve failed to define it.
Message permalink: 705482987483168829
I think we have different definitions of mission then
Message permalink: 705483143288717424
My mission depends on how this kicks off in my area.
Message permalink: 705483213090586684
Hence, two sets and mindsets.
Message permalink: 705483261413031936
In which case, figure out what will most likely happen and plan around that. My number one scenario involves grabbing the fire extinguisher off of my wall.
Message permalink: 705483433492873389
Interesting, you can on getting Waco'ed?
Message permalink: 705483822438940696
No, I'm prepared in case one of my electrical outlets sparks and starts a fire or something, because it's statistically much more likely than having my house broken into.
Message permalink: 705484073459646476
Message permalink: 705484170159325314
Okay yes but literally entirely irrelevant to this discussion, congrats
Message permalink: 705484195832528967
No it's relevant. Determine emergency scenarios in order of likelihood and plan for them. Whether it's a fire, flood, or burglar.
Message permalink: 705484458081648661
If I hear glass break, I'm not grabbing the first aid kit, I'm grabbing the home defense kit. There's a kit and plan for fire One for defense One for bugging out One for bugging in Stuff depending on where I'm going
Message permalink: 705485430019194950
Could not be more relevant
Message permalink: 705485466673348679
The kit I shared a glimpse of is a raid kit. Short, going somewhere to do something specific type kit. It's not where I want it yet, but if it came down to it, I could make it work.
Message permalink: 705485677927596100
I'd probably say kits in order of importance, there may be more First aid Natural disaster / fire EDC (concealed carry, tq, knife or shears, etc.) Common home defense Get home kit Bug out kit (you're probably not defending your home from the feds for very long, they won't stop until you're dead) Mission specific stuff that we do not talk about in this server.
Message permalink: 705487220693270579
If you're like most people, your mission, as Varg Freeborn would put it, is to get home alive to your loving family. If something matters more than that, then you know exactly why it matters more than that.
Message permalink: 705487825486741584
Now that I'm living in the country "bugging out" over a disaster is less likely we are shifting to a bug in/prepper mindset now. I have plate carriers for my wife and I and in between them is a shoulder bag with 300 rounds of softpoint 5.56 once we get completely done with this move and our chicken gardening projects I can focus one what role I can make our former bugout bags serve
Message permalink: 705500352388005930
Sounds like you've got your equipment more or less sorted away. More ammo and preserved food is always good. Might be good to start looking at fortifying your house. Feds like to toss stuff through your windows like flashbangs but they make vandal resistant windows. Stuff like installing better screws in your entry doors and other things to keep them from being bashed down. Motion detecting outdoor lights. Wireless security system like simplisafe
Message permalink: 705502503055392779
applies to vagrants and mad max crazies as well
Message permalink: 705502716130099343
My house is brick on a concrete slab I'm going to replace my door sunday I always reinforce the frames and run 3 inch deck screws all around the frame did that for my gun room. Cameras with motion lights are also on my list. I've had ADT for years planning on having it moved to my new place
Message permalink: 705503857492492420
I've been buying/loading/building guns and ammo for a decade I'm in decent shape on ammo we have emergency food but wee need more

Message permalink: 705504737079984209
Watching 9 hole reviews put the type 56 sks through the service rifle course and its not doing well the Chinese AK actually shot better not surprising as tilting block rifles don't have as consistent of lockup as a rotating bolt
Message permalink: 705516251681652748
Shotgun or rifle for black bear defense?
