I went big on my first rifle, and then made the mistake of getting a cheap scope, haha. It works... I guess, it's just I don't do MOA, and I got it because it was a mildot reticle, but the turrets were MOA.

I considered the qc thing but it has the best aftermarket

So I can't effectively use it without too much math.

It does have a really good aftermarket.

So if you were gonna get it, and use it to build from, then it's decent I guess.

I went with a Mossberg MVP Precision rifle.

Yea I was telling myself I was going to get a DMR for my next purchase but I bought that M6 IC DI instead lol

I made a 20" AR off of a Aero upper for my 'DMR', but I might make a new one in the future and use a 18" .308 barrel instead.

Let your gun grow into the glass not the glass into the gun Or in layman's terms, buy good glass one time and build the rifle to fit it

Well, I already told Leopold Optics that my next LR glass purchase will be through them, haha.

I told them I'd buy from them if they got Daddy Thumb to do an advertisement for them, and of course they tagged him and I in the same post, and he agreed.

Haven't seen said ad yet... but I'm waiting to see it.

For the more budget minded out there, Nikon is a great alternative to the super high end stuff, not as much variety but what they do have is pretty solid

So they are cheap but limited right now

I have a Nikon FX1000 on my 6.5 CM its similar to a vortex PST or a burris XTR

I sent in one of my first ever scopes to bushnell for repair. Their 223 1-4x24. They ended up sending me a brand new LPVO 1-4x24. Didn’t even tell me they were going to do that

Im surprised how clear the glass is. It’s not a bad scope at all. I paid 50$ for the one I sent in. They send me a 299$ for free

Doing some reading about tikka and it kinda seems you get more for your money than the remington 700 with a decent aftermarket too

Tikkas are great rifles from everything I've heard.

Remington 700s are overhyped. Everyone wants them because it's what the military adopted, and then their prices raised. Good rifles, but overhyped.

If you have the money, Tikka is a good choice.

I went with the Mossberg MVP Precision, because it's still sub-MOA and I liked the furniture and stock better than the Ruger Precision.

It looks like the tikka t3x is about the same price, sometimes cheaper, but shoots .25-.5 moa

with what people seem to say is a better action

I may replace the stock later so it's no big deal to me

I was used to seeing them for around 2k

they have models that are 2k with fancy stocks but the one that the picture above is from costs right at about 1k

Not bad. Yeah, the MVP Precision is also a .5 MOA gun, but MSRPs around 1400. But you can grab them for around 1Kish.

Well the Remington 700 is more than that at this point. 80% of precision rifle manufacturers use a modified r700 receiver

And yeah, that's because Remington took their bolt design from the German Mausers

thinking about the tikka tx3 ctr. They basically threaded the varmint barrel and called it tactical. Then maybe later on the mdt lss gen two stock looks promising. Under 2 pounds, solid aluminum, and people seem to say good things about it.

Ah I mean good companies make it controlled feed and use dual M16 extractors

I had the earlier gen with a rather short forearm, I was very impressed with the build quality, I was underwhelmed by the ergonomics. But that was years ago and it appears their stuff is more thought out now, I would get one again.

Cool. I haven't heard anything bad about it so far. Stable, comfortable, tough but light, takes ar10 mags, has a thumb rest, barricade stop, and other features

Looking into this plate carrier. What does everyone think.

I’m thinking I get it in coyote. Reckon that would match? I know SF guys do it.

At the price point of that, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t get a JPC, and I know several people who have had that carrier and sooner or later felt the need to upgrade. That being said the build quality seems decent on those, I haven’t heard any complaints of unusually wear or failures
