Message permalink: 706205685943107645
Tried my hand at making one and just hardwired everything to a switch panel with inline fuses, let it set for a couple of months, forgot where I was at on it, so I said fuck it and I’m just gonna order the 12 circuit one from Painless that has the touch pad and everything. Which is what I should have done from the get go

Message permalink: 706221437668819087
I'm curious, with noveske is there any real difference between the gen 3 and gen 1 receivers or is it just forged vs billet?
Message permalink: 706225123480305674
@Crye Salesman It's 2015 era. Came in on a consignment and doesn't look like it's ever been fired. After what I spent on my last two builds I decided to say fuck it and just start buying good shit.
Message permalink: 706227499276697670
That’s a sweet gun man, it’ll serve you well.
Message permalink: 706228276170850355
@Confused I mean it is forged vs billet, but the gen 3 (SMOS) receivers have some advantages that make them nicer to use, more accurate, etc

Hey question. So I recently saw TFBTV's video about the Australian documents showing the performance of the Steyr Aug compared to a m16 style rifle. I was curious if you guys have seen the video and what your thoughts on it where. Im not an expert on guns but I've always thought about getting a bullpup, however I have an AR because it's just common in the us and easy to aquire parts and ammo for. The steyer uses the 5.56 round and some can accept ar mags, but good luck finding parts. It seems easier to maintain as well, with it's modular barrel. What do you all think? https://youtu.be/_9NF99PG_M0
Message permalink: 706276488298758187
TFB is the HuffPost of the firearms industry
Message permalink: 706278138770096249
there writers dont have any idea what theyre talking about 75% of the time
Message permalink: 706278226431049839
I mean I’d go with a PTR before I went to an AUG
Message permalink: 706278344328740917
@Crye Salesman oh I didn't kmow that
Message permalink: 706278483818577972
The AUG is a fine gun, although its a bullpup and has its own inherent problems. Saying something is better than the AR15 is nonsense though, the AUG is a specific rifle made by one company, the AR15 is not.
Message permalink: 706278629188960336
Oh that makes sense. That's a good point
Message permalink: 706279360302415882
I got a fostech AR cause it was steeply discounted and had the whole binary thing
Message permalink: 706279618617016452
binary is gay sorry
Message permalink: 706279692541362297
The AUG is one of the best bullpup rifles out there. But in comparison to the AR, it lacks.
Message permalink: 706279793129160715
ARs can perform just as well, just as reliably, and with more modularity.
Message permalink: 706279881012543498
AR180s are surprisingly robust
Message permalink: 706282955370266624
Especially milled reciever variants
Message permalink: 706283056914235443
the brownelss ar180's are cool, although as a cadadadiannn i assume you mean the OG version?

I hate that an FFL07/SOT2 cannot import MGs from Canada, totally gay, considering yall have mg42s and such for cheap! But that's alright.. I have leads on parts kits that can be imported from Europe... the red tape simply boggles my mind
Message permalink: 706284336156114954
@BigRed1 lemme come build semi PKM's on vltor receivers for you
Message permalink: 706284474056310834
Now that sounds fun! Hahaha
Message permalink: 706284527332360223
In due time.. just gotta get a storefront.. still in the basement
Message permalink: 706284624279634041
i joke, but im going to a top-tier gunsmithing school in a few months, so maybe i dont joke
Message permalink: 706284831578914827
We do ww2 reenacting, our biggest issue is solid running mg42s and 34s... I will be building a few in the next few years, unless I see an SOT2 going out of business, than I'll swoop em up..
Message permalink: 706284993927839747
I want to go to smith school, its just not possible for me at the moment
Message permalink: 706285079722328164
For the record, an FFL07/SOT2 can legally build what is called a Post sample MG, That is properly approved from the ATF, for legalities.
Message permalink: 706285363542360084
yeah im fairly well tracking on the SOT stuff
Message permalink: 706285441506082817
Just educating others, mods, etc
Message permalink: 706285800404287568
gotcha
Message permalink: 706286086204162128
well, IDK how big your business is, but if youre looking for a smith in two years HMU, either way id be happy to lend a hand tinkering with old MG's just for fun and building experience
Message permalink: 706286287610576930
I'm interested in building an MG3 for research, the story behind it is neat.. When russians overtook the Rhine metal plant, they destroyed MG42 blueprints.. they had to reverse engineer the weapon.. crazy right?! Lol
Message permalink: 706286493135798393
We are small now, hopefully in 2 years ill be a large storefront
Message permalink: 706286580377190440
i actually didnt know that, thats wild
Message permalink: 706286607824715838
I havent tracked down the info on the mg42 and 34, but ive nerded out at the TDP's and blueprints of more modern stuff
Message permalink: 706287167281823744
See history stuff is my fav, I've been learning new stuff, ( it's obviously what everyone buys) Still learning
Message permalink: 706287479329652836
You’d be *amazed* well, actually, you probably wouldn’t, but how little most firearms manufacturers and shops actually conceptually understand about how the weapons operate
Message permalink: 706287733877768232
I've been in many shops, and I HATE when someone doesn't know anything about them.. it's really a disservice to customers.
Message permalink: 706288399031730337
I've been considering staying away from lower end stuff, like cheap ARs, I'm sure i can find a way to provide good stuff thats affordable, I'm not trying to get rich on folks. I can't in good conscience sell someone a shitty gun for defense.. you know...
Message permalink: 706289001551757403
Most gunshops charge like 25 for a transfer, it cost me 5 bucks, so that's profit.. accessories is where there is money to be made
Message permalink: 706289504687882301
You figure, if i make 50-75 a salemm I'd be happy with that.. I'd consider that pretty good..
Message permalink: 706289675257511996
Glad you have that mindset
Message permalink: 706290067269746688
@BigRed1 That’s the way to do it. And it helps build a loyal customer base.
Message permalink: 706291601906991114
Eventually we will have bench time, where we will discuss cleaning and repairs in detail.

Message permalink: 706292019558875236
