I've got a gen 1 m&p and a 1911, need to upgrade but I'm a long gun guy. Don't know shit about pistols that aren't wheeled. General consensus that Sig Legion is good shit or what?
Message permalink: 706676493123846174
Sig fix there drop safety issues?
Message permalink: 706676632760483861
I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Last pistol I bought was a Smith xvr in .460 mag. I'm out of date.
Message permalink: 706677027821977640
Alright, what's the verdict on Smith and Wesson again? Poor gun or?
Message permalink: 706677383624654889
Honestly it sounds like the M&P 2.0 is a decent pick up
Message permalink: 706677493364424796
No more or less POOR than buying a Glock
Message permalink: 706677561454886962
XVR series isn't poor tier. Don't know about the rest.
Message permalink: 706677579666554903
I don’t look at handguns the same as rifles. A handgun has to be comfortable in the hand and that can change from person to person
Message permalink: 706677792426819605
I'll look into gen 2 m&p. I really can't bitch about my gen 1. Although holstering once was the closest I've ever been to an ND. Operator error, yes, still always been in the back of my mind since.

Don’t shoot your dick off
Message permalink: 706678183726153738
@TacticalBeard Agreed. At the risk of sounding like a god damn fudd I always liked the feel of a 1911.

It would have been the outside of my thigh. I can't do appendix carry.

You see. With the fear of shooting you dick off your brain won’t let you fuck up

Wise words. I get it. My deal is mobility. I'm short as fuck and can't find a comfortable appendix carry placement.

Message permalink: 706687090053611591
What's wrong with alien gear?
Message permalink: 706687430438420571
I bought a cheap cc holster off wish for shits and giggles and it works pretty good especially for being $10 shipping included lol downside is reholstering is a bit of a cunt
Message permalink: 706687663385739324
I've never been brave enough to order anything from wish. Then again everything that comes across my feed would get letterheads killing every dog within five miles of my house.
Message permalink: 706688034925576222
I used to have an alien gear holster, didn't much care for it, went with a vedder holster and I love it, been holding my G19 for 3 years now.

Here's what happens when you carry a pistol without an external safety in a broken in aliengear
Message permalink: 706698482437586944
That was almost me with an m&p once.
Message permalink: 706699059330547812
I'll only ever buy good kydex. When you drop 500-600 on a carry pistol, spending 80 on what's even more important than the pistol itself, the holster, really isn't that much.
Message permalink: 706701091445932043
I occasionally buy cheap shit off wish just to see if it actually works. Occasionally I'm actually surprised sometimes the shit works primo
Message permalink: 706705772699975691
And more often its crap lol
Message permalink: 706705959107690566
Though surprisingly if you do your homework the armour plates can be worth it
Message permalink: 706706178360737813
Oh I buy cheap shit all the time just to test it. I've found some 20 dollar items like off of Amazon and the like.
Message permalink: 706707284100775957
@BugsyBaldwin I don't know if you watch demolition ranch but he posted a video today I believe about buying garbage on wish.com and he bought a "level 5 bullet proof armor plate" and it was like 80 bucks but it also stopped 50 bmg
Message permalink: 706710285842645043
Oh yeah, I saw that. It was a thick steel plate. He also tested their level III armor, which was like 25-30 bucks.
Message permalink: 706710686394220584
The covering was garbage. But the plates themselves held up to .357
Message permalink: 706710742094577664
With that being said... don't buy it, if you can get real plates.

In other news, doing tons of reading on the ar10. Apparently you can put an a5 receiver extension with an ar10 buffer spring and carbine buffer weight on there?
Message permalink: 706713395214286849
I mean you can adjust your buffer weight on your own, so it’s at least theoretically possible
Message permalink: 706713588986806313
I'm just sorta torn on the stock. Lots of people use fixed stocks though it doesn't seem that versatile
Message permalink: 706713828104077404
Been looking at the b5 sopmod because I've used it before and enjoyed it
Message permalink: 706713931346870303
I would run an LMT-DMR or a magpul PRS probably, but that’s because my use of AR10’s is almost always precision employment
Message permalink: 706714494684102718
Or a B5 precision stock

I wasn't going to him for advice, I just wanted to see what would happen to chinesium garbage

Message permalink: 706715999319359568
Found a long rifle range in my state that looks promising. No membership, no nra bullshit, supposedly pretty laid back, and a mile long full of steel targets
Message permalink: 706716369277681736
A lot of "meme tier" gear is fine if you have a basic understanding of how each piece is meant to be used and can identify points of failure yourself. If you can just throw money at engineers, then good for you. Buy Crye and pay someone to make custom kydex for you. But for everyone else, there is a lot of value and utility to be gotten from poverty gear if you have a fuckin clue and can address problems yourself. Condor PCs and Alien Gear holsters are perfect examples. Condor has issues with shitty stitching. That's the primary problem with most budget PCs. If you know where and how PCs tend to break, it's very easy to reinforce those areas yourself. A $70 PC and a $5 sewing kit can be completely serviceable. And the difference between having guys with serviceable gear or being by yourself with Gucci shit is a big difference. Alien gear holsters are much the same. If you have an ounce of mechanical aptitude and experience with service holsters, you can easily identify the failure points of an Alien Gear and fix all of them with a little bit of grease and a small tube of loctite. I get that the ideal setup is everyone having a BCM build with full Crye kit, but that's fantasy nonsense for desk jockeys. If you want to form cohesive local groups, you have to be able to work with and optimize budget gear.
Message permalink: 706724553031942165
How would you guys feel about bolt enhancements? I’m looking into being more of a gunsmith and I would love to help people keep their rifles functioning flawlessly. I would be more than happy to start replacing and staking gas keys and cam pins, as well as extractors for those who would like that service.
Message permalink: 706763509291155486
Any of you bastards built a fal?
Message permalink: 706764284314648629
@Ballsdini there is a distinct difference between shaming people for their actual budget, which is a complete asshole thing to do, and shaming someone for making *poor decisions*. Alien Gears aren’t any cheaper than quality holsters that *wont* inherently cause you to ND through your thigh. There are quality ceramic plates that cost the same as AR500’s. And no amount of loctite can fix the hot mess that alien gears are, sorry. Life saving equipment and safety are not things you can Jerry rig your way through. I might come off as an asshole, but I would rather that, than coddle peoples feelings and then have that dude put a hollowpoint through his femoral and bleed out because no one told him his holster is sub par.

> @American_AF so you have the RUGER 5.7 and the FN5.7 how do they compare @TacticalBeard Unfortunately the 503
Message permalink: 706784244336164994
So thoughts on precision shooting. Ar-10 vs bolt action? I'm looking to dip my toes in a bit but I don't know anything about long range shooting. I was considering building an ar10 but it sounds like it'll never be as accurate as a bolt action rifle.
Message permalink: 706876001333936188
Bolt action
Message permalink: 706876788382367765
All day
Message permalink: 706876808750170252
Granted you can build some ar10 to perform as a bolt action
Message permalink: 706877386255499314
Idk that just my opinion
Message permalink: 706877413392646175
For anyone with experience with bolt guns, do you have any recommendations? I understand it seems you can't just assemble one like an ar, they seem like they have to be built / modified by a competent Smith

Remington 700 is what I’ve had
Message permalink: 706878030576091156

I've read that Remington has seriously dropped their quality control. Would it be better to buy parts and have it built in the Remington 700 style without Remington components?

Oh, that's an idea
