The whole point of using IR is to see and shoot the enemy without them knowing you’re there

Using a flashlight is great because you can see everything perfect, BUT EVERYONE FOR A MILE can see you too

Well, when using the IR laser, you don't keep it on, you only turn in on for micro-movements to your aim, and to signal.

Leaving it on 24/7 is terrible energy conservation as well as blatantly giving away your location

Navigation, communication, passive detection. And, if you’re fighting an IR-capable enemy, they can see you too

Just because it’s dark you can’t operate differently

You still need to use cover and concealment as if it were daylight

Make sure you don’t skyline yourself etc

And add a nice bright clearly visable line from you to your target, if only for a moment is enough to que them into where you are

I feel like you’ve never seen an IR laser before lol. Very rarely is it a “line” it’s usually just a dot on the target, and maybe some splash on intermediate photonic barriers depending on the environment

And not all IR is the same. If you know your enemies IR capability, you can run active aiming devices on a higher or lower spectrum and bypass their detection
