Any med kits yall recommend? I have a basic IFAK and getting extra tourniquets, but ideally something I can carry on my carrier or belt

I’m gonna be honest, I loved the new MARCHH kits, even if they’re a bit different. Very effective outside of the piece of junk tourniquet they use. Get CATs.

Honestly anything that holds the shit you wanna carry is good. Hsgi bleeder pouch is good for small kit. Just depends on your use. I have a NAR squad medical fanny pack thing i keep in my truck, its big and i end up filling it up with stuff

Band aids and some braces/compression wraps, don't forget the little things like sprained ankles or paper cuts, a small injury can turn into a much larger one down the road

@Cannibal1-1 oh yea it sure can. I have medical training. I’m BLS certified through the state of MA and the shit I learned in the AF. When it comes to running it on a plate carrier that’s where I lack knowledge.

The BFG kits are sized by a blowout kit and a slightly larger blowout kit. If the kit doesn’t fit in there it’s probably a little too big for an ifak

Yeah I have 2 masks 40mm threads. I’ve been looking at Mira Safety and they seem to have them for an okay price of $79.99 with 20 year shelf life. Anyone have experience with them? I used to buy some Israeli ones from Atlantic tactical but the manufacturer stopped selling them.

I’m still waiting for my gas mask and filter to come in from Mira safety. I’m hoping maybe another week or two and I’ll get it

I'd just cancel my order from Mira if you didn't order it in Febuary, they cannot legally ship any masks or filters out of the Czech Republic right now

Check out Botach and their Avon C50 and CT50 masks, they cost more but are a far superior product, as for filters, there isn't any place that charges a reasonable amount and will ship resonably soon right now

They told me that too, it was supposed to be delivered the 4th of last month, and that was 4 weeks after the original order was placed

I ordered a mask and filters from Mira safety on 2/28, got the fulfillment notice March 16th and delivered on March 20th. So well within the 4 week window.

Now the next filter order, not so lucky.

Ordered more filters on March 1st, no update since.

Like I said, if the order didn't get made in Febuary then it isn't coming for a long time

specifically rattlers

i live in a part of the country where theres a shitload of rattlesnakes and medical assistance may not come quickly, because there arent any ambulances and cell service is abysmal outside of the park

if i'm out and about and i get tagged by a rattlesnake, what should i do? i thought slapping a tourniquet on was the answer to keep the venom from reaching your heart, but it sounds like doing that will basically guarantee you lose your limb because it lets the venom sit and eat away at your tissue

so is there something better if help is hours away? should my plan be just to weigh whether i like my arm/leg more than i like breathing and TQ it anyways?

If the TQ sits on there long enough wouldn't you be losing the limb either way

if i'm out on a hike and i get bit, i won't have cell service and thus no way to contact a lifeflight. it'll be probably 20-30 minutes to get back to my car, then another 20 minutes to get back to the park where we have a clinic that can handle snake bites

i'm at least an hour away from help and isn't that enough time for a rattlesnake to be lethal

i grew up in missouri, i dont know much about snakes

Bring a suction device, like the ones they use for bug bites.

Woah! Snake bites are dry (no venom) about 80% of the time. If the bite has venom, a tourniquet is not a good idea. Keep your heart rate down, stay relaxed, drink water and get some assistance. Snake venom is processed in the body just fine and only extreme cases need antivenom

A tourniquet will increase tissue damage greatly. The most dangerous part of a venomous bite is infection from the puncture wound.

Clean and protect the wound and keep it that way. Also, venomous snakes rarely bite anyway unless you poke them with a stick or step on them

and they're everywhere out here. one of my guys about got chewed on a few days ago just doing his job and didn't see the snake until the last second.

Im just a civ that likes to shoot but i dont have a personal kit what would be something ideal or a deff need to have incase i guess accident or i get shot???

@XXXEXTENCIONCORD Paramedic here. Definitely a tourniquet, preferably a TMT, CAT, RMT as they’ve been proven most effective. It also wouldn’t hurt to keep some rolled gauze for packing a wound if needed. I’ll post my IFAK in second.
