Largely due to gang violence caused by a lack of local opportunity. When the last shop in town closed because they kept getting robbed, it's really easy to start running drugs instead.

It’s largely a cultural thing

If you break down the demographics, you find that violent crime directly correlates with low socioeconomic status regardless of race. However when a particular race has been marginalized like that, they tend to become low SES

Or being charged with victimless crimes that are things that thousands of Americans do every day

And the culture self perpetuates from there

Relying on government for help when the government keeps them impoverished

Politician promises change, they vote for said politician, change never comes. Repeat repeat repeat

Yup. Then politicians enact rules that punish citizens for their economic status, and LE is all too happy to enforce it vigorously for their own personal financial gain

Politicians and LE go hand in hand. Both are bad and need serious change

NK Can't do warfare All their equipment is obsolete and their country is so starved they have no way to supply or feed their army. That's why they invested so heavily in nukes, because it's the only way for them to be a military threat. The only thing they have going for them is their mountain artillery which they've been building up since the 50s.

Why don’t they just invest in farming projects so they have food for soldiers

They essentially can launch one attack, before drones and the South Korean Air Force set the mountains on fire

SAMs will work on normal drones, but if the US gets involved SA-3s can't reliably lock onto F-35s art least while the aircraft is in front of them

Also the moment they turn on the radar to lock onto a fighter or bomber they are announcing their location to everyone

Look at Saddam in the first gulf war, he had the fourth largest army in the world and it didn't matter. Then in 2003 we just walked in and removed him. If Iraq had actual nukes, that would never have been a possibility.
