I'd probably wear something similar to what I'm wearing right now. Redwing boots, Duluth jeans (crotch gusset ftw) and a regular shirt, currently a polo. Tq, shears, and keys in right pocket, wallet in back pocket, phone in right, pistol in kydex appendix holster.
Message permalink: 704724230029181028
Note to self: need to get red wings repaired sometime soon
Message permalink: 704724375701684355
Could ditch the jeans for something tan colored and a brownish shirt for blending a bit better with foliage
Message permalink: 704724442848428072

However light tans tend to take on the colors of their surroundings due to light reflecting onto them from the foliage

You can see this a bit in asat camo

Pants-wise I’m loving Wrangler outdoor pants. You can get them in “peat” which is basically a slightly darker OD green and they’re very breathable, comfortable and strong as hell standing up to rips and shit

I'm working on getting another job so I can move foward with a glock and AR 80% build.
Message permalink: 704744847377956875
I had an idea a while ago.. buy a GhostGunner CNC mill. "Sell" it to someone who wants to use it for like a $20 or $50 nonrefundable "down payment" and then they "change their mind" after they're done finishing their 80% guns.
Message permalink: 704745852203171881
Spoke with a lawyer about it and they said it would be a legal loophole around the stupid ban on sharing tools for gun building.
Message permalink: 704746386687787078
Sounds good. I think you could technically even rent it out, it's just a tool, as long as they're the one who presses the start button.

Lol look dudes, if you guys try to hit me up for that Vortex discount, remember its %50 off MSRP. you have to add taxes and shipping twice. It has to come to me first, then i have to ship to you, unless you're in CO, then we can meet up and throw some brass.

Message permalink: 704783765767192687
The only thing you need is a drill and a router. You can pick up both of those for under $75 at harbor fright. The perfect set up is a drill press, router, cutting oil and a vise. If you are not going to use a drill press then pick up a corded drill. A cordless drill will use up the batteries to fast.

Anyone here do hand to hand combatives? I started training BJJ a couple years ago; I love that my gun isn't (necessarily) my first line of defense anymore. That being said, I want to learn to box as well

@Dejectedhook04 yeah, I think a good set of filmed GP would be better in very low ambient light. Duals vs mono would be my next question. My main constraint is cost, especially for my first unit. That and I need to set my rifle up as well. A mono seems like the way to go for me currently. Looking into Licentia Arms and see the night units.
Message permalink: 704840599186047096
@Deleted User dude I feel the cost part for sure reasons why I went into a scope for my rifle in the first place it was a gen 3 USNV 441 with an illustration

@Dejectedhook04 that said I do want some modularity, not just weapon mounted. Versatile is what I'm going for. Hiking trips, range use, hunting etc. I'll make 100% sure I'm using that $4k unit to its full capacity 😂.

That being said, you should have pictures of your firearm with the serial number clearly visible and readable in case you ever have to use it for self defense and the police try to disappear it from their evidence locker

Been designing a rifle to build for my fiance lately. She's tiny and a bit timid when it comes to firearms, so I've been working on finding the right balance of weight, size, and gas system length. Likely gonna put a noveske pig on it to direct the blast away since that's the main thing that bothers her when shooting
Message permalink: 704847329206861854
Midlength 14.5 shoots pretty soft with an A5 buffer kit. My GF likes it a lot
Message permalink: 704848783581642763
So far what I'm looking at is: receiver set I already have from aero, no forward assist g$ trigger I already have - about 4.5lbs sba3 brace of course Faxon 11.5 mid length with adjustable gas block 13" carbon fiber mlok handguard I already have Noveske kx3 (which at a little over 3" just peeks out from the handguard) jp captured standard buffer to smooth out the recoil more bcm grip I have, might look into slimmer grips if it's comfortable for her smol hands might put a handstop on there or something, mostly for safety
Message permalink: 704848812493242439
I have an 11.5 ar already which feels like it'd be just her size, but it's a bit heavier duty due to the g$ rail, huey, flip magnifier, and flashlight. Given that my 16" build with a similar barrel and same handguard weighs about 5 pounds before optics, should be super handy for her
Message permalink: 704849624531468378
might go with a trijicon 1x42 reflex sight because it doesn't have a power switch or anything for her to worry about, just point and shoot

Who has experiance in nvgs looking for something weapon mountable
Message permalink: 704870527990497290
I believe the pvs14 is weapon mountable and good to go
Message permalink: 704870839027499089
@Bif I have a 308 rated scope for sale atm USNV gen 3 autogated tube
Message permalink: 704870840134664212
Also if you go for the PVS14 you might as well use a helmet mount no real reason to use a unit like that and spend that $$$ to mount it mounting I think is best with magnified optics
Message permalink: 704871119278178304
Yes PVS14 can be weapon mounted you mount it behind a red dot and in front of a magnified optic an instructor I took several classes with used that setup with an ACOG when he was deployed and said he fealt like he was cheating
Message permalink: 704871468818890783
JRH enterprises has good prices on PVS14s. As far as something weapon mounted thermal works better pulsar makes a good unit for 1800
Message permalink: 704871721424912404
Thermal is very good for hunting but NVGs are better for identifying your target
Message permalink: 704871806187864085
Thermal is great for detection
Message permalink: 704871868053848066
NV is identification
Message permalink: 704871907689758751
Plenty of hunters use a mix of both to identify animals at longer ranges or in foliage
Message permalink: 704871994444873758
sounds like a very heavy rifle. I could see doing something like that to a mounted weapon I guess, but I don't have much experience when it comes to that
Message permalink: 704872066976841928
@Confused it would have to be a very purpose driven rifle
Message permalink: 704872154570686536
I've watched a bunch of tod Huey's hog hunting videos they use nods to navigate and thermals for their optics because a target is easier to ID with thermal than nods according to him
Message permalink: 704872166470189119
Thermal has its place, but TNVC has a full color adapter for pvs14s.
Message permalink: 704872172115591188
