Yeah i know, coefficient. Anyway think of 300wm as a round sitting between 308 and 338. 338 has about 1,000 ft lbs more energy than 300, which has about 600 ft lbs more than 308

@1-1Cannibal try a 220 grain bullet at 3790 fps. That rifle tries to shatter your collar bone every time you get behind it

If 338 kicks you that badly then don't use it

308 will take you out to 1,000 yards max but it's kinda sketchy past 800, 300 will get you to around 1,200 but you need good ammo since it wasn't originally a precision round, and 338 will get you out to around 1,750. 300wm does pretty well as a counter sniper round. Big enough to put some serious hurt on someone while carrying more energy further than 308 can due to its increased charge and better BC

I know that realistically I'm not gonna have a need for big fuck you rounds like that, so I like 6.5, lol

6.5 creedmoor is my current match favorite, accurate as hell and it doesnt kill me

Yep, I originally wanted to go with .308 actually, but ended up trying 6.5 instead and I like it enough.

I didnt want to discuss specifically the 338. The 300wm was my intention. This just went in a different direction so godammed fast i couldnt get her back on track

It's good enough for Army and Marines snipers, so 300WM is a fine round.

338 is gonna out perform 300 but 300 is gonna out perform 308 and possibly 6.5

Yea, i wouldnt want 6.5 for anything other than target shooting at long range

300wm is way more available right now. Granted the hunting rounds have an effective range of around 300 yards, while match stuff reaches out to 1200

@Confused i reload my own ammo so i can tailor my stuff to specific use cases

300 Norma Magnum and 338 Norma Magnum will out perform their counter parts for long range magnum rounds, but they are hard to find and expensive as fuck, as well as basically not many rifle being chambered for them

Any chance barrels are easier to find? I can fit my own barrels to an action.

I'd assume you would have one made if it's a match barrel, but theoretically you could find one

A custom 300 or 338 norma will probably run you right around 10k, but that's the price specifically from my guy, don't knoe what others would charge

Well the chassis is the easy part. It’s the barrel/chamber/rifling/headspace that is difficult

You can get defiance actions barreled and headspaced with nice barrels like bartlein

The Fix would be the best rifle this decade, if it was a good rifle

Toss it in an accuracy international stock and stick a nice scope on it

The Fix is just an ultra light weight rifle that isn't a remington 700 or mauser type action

But they kinda did a fuckey wuckey and shed to much weight for even 308 to be comfortable from it, and the stock is 3/4" wide and made of the hardest rubber in existence

The Fix does several innovative things. Unfortunately, they have accuracy and feeding issues, and Q’s CS is “fuck you”

All in all, building an ultra precision 300wm rifle will probably come out to 5-6k max before optics. About the same as the barrett
