The SL8 is a G36 made for US import in the 90s

Mines the SL8-4 which came with double stack mags

I am not big in to historic firearms

Can hollowpoint fail to expand at high enough velocities? Having trouble with overpenetrating .22lr hollowpoint, it's going straight through rodent skulls and not doing what it should be...

I have seen ballistic gel tests of shooting through basic things like drywall with studs and car glass and seen hollow points fail to expand

But not caused by high velocity

I've got a vortex flip magnifier and there's one really big thing I don't like about it. There's no room under it to put a backup sight, unlike magnifiers using a larue mount and eotech mounts. Of course you could just use an offset red dot as your backup but the option should be there.

I like the eotech more because I don’t have to press a button to move it to the side. Glass is better on the eotech. But I honestly don’t have any complaints about the vortex magnifier since it’s a good budget

Yea I liked the MRO it’s my favorite pure red dot but I have an astigmatism. So I traded it for a gentex( opscore) high cut helmet

I have astigmatism also.. because I'm poor I planned to start with irons and get optics later though.

Everyone’s eyes are different. I find my eyes like the 1MOA dots on the eotechs better than a traditional red dot

But in the future with your astigmatism primary arms makes some really nice prisms and LVPOs for low cost

I'm dead set on getting an ambi safety switch and ambi charging handle. Like 95% sure I'll get an ambi mag release. Completely unsure about the bolt catch.

Technically I could mill it to take an ambi bolt catch since I'm doing 80% lowers anyway. Just would need to know exactly what additional material to mill out.

What jig do you have

Don't have one yet. I wanted a router jig like the 5D, Easy Jig or Modulus Arms, but they're all backordered a minimum of 4 weeks. Plus it needs to wait for my $1200 stimulus to arrive.

@Crye Salesman I didn't plan on it anyway because in the pictures it would block an ambi mag release.

The bolt release is not meant to do that, it causes malfunctions
