I was at the range one day in the plinking bay and one dude brought out his Barrett. They set up a carved pumpkin about 25 yards away, put a little bit of gas in it, and shot it with an API round. Maybe not the smartest thing to do as I could feel the heat from how far away I was (about 40 yards as I was a bit off to the side) but it was cool as fuck

338 lapua mag is super nice but i sold mine 2 years ago, not a comfortable rifle to shoot

Yeah, because it’s the open air, so the the shockwave will follow the path of least resistance and just disperse around you

Shockwaves have an extremely difficult time transferring between air and liquid, but that's all i know on that subject. Similar pressures in water could potentially have a devastating effect though

Yeah, I mean think about taking an air compressor and blowing 120 PSI next to your arm. It wouldn’t tear your arm off. Idk what the PSI of a .50 shockwave is, but I’ve never felt like an air compressor had the ability to really hurt me
