Muzzle device? Well, I'm purchasing some high strength oil filters for my vehicle if that's what you're asking. Also yes, I am unsure of the sights I would like just yet.

I've so many different size threads that I need to filter oil through on my import cars. I don't even know where to start. But that's a project I'm not even going to worry about right now.

@JackLAXXX you'll still want at least a bird cage. Sights, unless you have an optic with an etched reticle you will also want irons.

Technically the torque spec for the buffer tube is 38-42 pounds. Typically people will snug it down tight until it doesn't really move, then stake the castle nut

This keeps it from backing off but you can still remove it if absolutely necessary. If you do remove it, you'll need a new end plate. There's also a company that makes a ratcheting castle nut that doesn't require staking and can be removed, it's pretty nice.

@JackLAXXX I would just get an A2 charging handle for like 10 bucks, those strike industries one tend to snap. Also consider that you will need a barrel nut wrench and torque wrench. But overall looks like a decent parts list

Also is the barrel and handguard aero, or something that store is claiming as their own?

My BCM and Aero build is getting pricy... My only concern about your .223 wylde barrel is that it's a 1/8 twist. Would probably be better off with a 18-20" if I had to guess.

I’m with Crye.

Barrel length and twist do not inherently correspond. Barrel length does not effect twist rate or make it work much better.

My 16” barrel is a 1:7, meaning it will stabilize heavier bullets better.

1:7 is better for heavier bullets in general? The higher twist rate is for lighter weight?

higher twist rates are better for heavier bullets. 1:7 is really kinda iffy with 55gr bullets but works fine with 62. 1:8 twist works well with just about anything you throw in an AR though

really the only reason not to have a 1:8 twist barrel is if you're using some crazy heavy ammo, like higher than 77gr

You should be running heavier rounds for defense anyway. Stuff like Hornady 75gr open tip match / boat tail hollow point. Its fragmentation is absolutely devastating

I run gold dots for defensive purposes, and 262 equivalent for offensive purposes

No they’re twist speed. Which literally none of use need to worry about unless you’re actually shooting well past 1000

green tip is pretty trash, though it's still about the cheapest barrier blind ammo you can get your hands on

nope

It's supposed to penetrate soft materials such as flesh and drywall slightly better than regular 55gr rounds

it will not penetrate any armor that regular 55gr won't too

Yeah green tip isn’t ap. Even M855A1 isn’t *actually* AP in the traditional sense, but it should penetrate M193 rated armor

That’s also just not how MOA works

by giving it a steel tip, they made it penetrate through body tissue better to more reliably meet penetration requirements and punch through stuff like car windows. However, by doing that, it naturally keeps it from fragmenting as well, but fragmentation is where 5.56 gets the majority of its lethality. Stuff like 75gr rounds fragment like crazy, doing a devastating amount of damage when they hit.

So it’s more lethal?

I’m assuming there’s more math there, and that number is a representation of a quantitative measurement of round stability

More lethal is a very relative term

With increased penetration that would decrease the chances of getting “stuck” and hitting vital organs, no?

But essentially shot placement, penetration, expansion. That’s what you should care about, roughly in that order.

Anyone ever run a magnifier for a red dot I'm curious if it throws off accuracy and you have to re-Zero on the magnifier

I use one and the magnifier doesn't throw off accuracy.

I do. I haven't done extensive shooting yet. But the magnifier doesn't effect zero

They have adjustments for centering your reticle but it doesn't adjust point of aim

By 'zeroing' your magnifier, all you're doing is adjusting the glass to where the dot is in the center. The dot itself doesn't actually move.

Mod 0 claims to hide flash too.. I assumed you had to choose compensator or flash hider and that if it does both it doesn't do either as well.

Bullshit, this thing is amazing. Lmao. It doesn't hide flash 100% but it does suppress it. And the comp portion works really well.

I have shot it at night with NVGs and I retained vision just fine, it wasn't super bright.

On a rifle-length barrel it is great. You'll hardly feel any movement. It is superior to the A2 in that aspect at least.

I wonder if I can find other people's experience with the flash-hider portion though

Okay, so I just watched a video. The VG6 does have a bit more flash coming out the front of the device. The A2 does not eliminate all flash either though. But the A2 does have slightly better flash suppression.

Also, I'm absolutely not telling you to buy oil filters. But sometimes those cars need new oil filters.
