Mora knives are great. On some no name junk Tang matters. But not in Mora's case. I highly recommend. You can also get stainless. But I don't mind oiling.

If you've got the budget for it check out titanium dive knives, completely corrosion resistant and hold an edge decently well

@Abe Clark mora is good, especially for the price. I’ve used them on hunting trips, and my dad has used them as bushcrafting knives. Not an ESEE, but a well built knife

I've been reading about parts some more. I recently discovered a smallish one called Hodge Defense, which apparently makes some of the best stuff that you can never have because they make batches of like 3 receivers.

The various parts are made by different companies to Hodge's specs, so there's somewhat similar stuff out there, but getting a receiver set is almost impossible

the receivers are made by Zev to certain specs, though apparently Zev already has insanely good tolerances

barrels are made by FN with some secret blend of metals in sort of a medium tapered cut, slightly easier to get

Then they sell an ar15 but you can't buy the receivers or rail separately. It's made out of aluminum lithium, which is supposedly stronger, lighter, and difficult to work with

if for some reason you can find it in stock, it's 2.8k

I've read comments about people trying to get hodge for over 3 years. I applaud his business model.

Yeah, I know some guys that run Hodge’s. They’re essentially the best unaltered iteration of the pure AR you can get

I'm waiting around for memorial day since it seems like a perfect time to drop receivers. Not gonna wait forever though, so I may go with zev forged receivers since they hold similar tolerances but have a slightly different design. The barrels seem much easier to get ahold of.

There was a 12.5 barrel, rail and receiver on arfcom for a while

Haven't decided on 12.5 or 14.5. Either way it's getting a brace.

The ATACs IX is a decent replacement.

I would recommend finding someone with NODs to check and see how IR reflective it is

I know... it's heartbreaking. I think Propper was unloading some FG still, and TRU-Spec also... if you can stomach the cost there's a company still making full sets but they run $120 per piece

My set is hot weather Tru-spec and I have a Cold Weather Propper set

I've had some mixed experiences with Tru-Spec, had them tear on the first time taking them out

I've used tru spec before for beater stuff. I hate their website and the quality is pretty low, but it's cheap and protects your well enough from thorns and other stuff.

I've had them rip literally while I'm just boating, not anything strenuous at all

It's only good for a few months of hard use, but price matters when you are poor

I'll look into getting a set in FG though

It happens. I've put mine through some pretty tough FTXs and, although I've had to repair them, the fabric is holding up

I've put mine through some hard use and its held up well enough, no tears but some stitching has unraveled a little. If I did more stuff in it, I'd get something better because it probably wouldn't hold up.

To me, uniforms are a consumable item. It's going to wear out, so the quality you get is dictated by how hard and how much you're going to be using it
