I love inrange TV but they made an akm fail the mud test. When the test continues until the gun fails what matters is how long it takes, not that it failed

It also failed the dust test

It’s almost like AK’s aren’t that good, and never have been

It's almost like no gun is made to have sand and mud poured into it intentionally

The 416 performed worse than the m4. Funny enough, the ak performed worse than the m4.

The thing is, Inrange tries to put rifles through the worst scenarios they can, just attempting to get halfway to the same league that they go through in the real world. Frankly it's not even close, but they keep going until it fails, so you can get an idea of when and where it will fail.

That's what I'm saying. Some people saying something isn't reliable because of their mud test just isn't true

The tests isn't whether or not it'll fail, the test doesn't stop until it does. It's WHEN it fails, then you be the judge on whether or not that's acceptable for your usage

Loose tolerances doesn't mean that you can jam dirt in it. Just means that it's easier to get dirt into there. Hahaha.

I've watched a lot of AR vs AK videos or whatever. And more often than not, the AR actually performs very well.

AR's, at least ones not made by Anderson, are pretty tight fitting. Mud would be able to jam it up, if the mud could get inside in the first place

The biggest difference between the two I think is cleaning after they've failed and return to function

AK you tear the top cover off, piss on the bolt carrier, and your good to go. An AR COULD require a field strip with carrier removal

An ak more likely than an AR, wouldn't require essential pieces being removed from the gun the way an AR does.

Yeah there's stories at least, of people having to brace an ak against the ground, kick the bolt open, then keep firing

Mortaring an ak is basically standard practice if it's jammed shut. Whether you can mortar an AR repeatedly I don't know I've never seen someone yet

I've seen people do it once or twice in a row but it wasn't the kind of malfunction that was clearable in that manner

I just don't have much experience clearing malfunctions with an ar because the only ones I've ever had are very occasional primer duds, almost never.

sometimes I'll throw random snap caps in a magazine just for malfunction clearing drills

It was a malfunction that was caused by him installing a trigger part backwards, bullet was trapped in the chamber and mortaring ripped the case away from the bullet spilling the powder on everything

You can absolutely mortar an AR

But can you grease an AR with ground up banana?

I like my G3 but it’s not my go to rifle

I used to have a G3 and while it's a fun gun, and one of the most reliable rifles ever made, the manual of arms and construction paired with using a full size cartridge that's not shooting sub moa leaves you at a pretty big disadvantage. Mag changes are a bitch because you have to lock the charging handle back, line up a mag just right, and slap the charging handle down.

Good luck in any close quarter situation with that thing too, hahaha.

You're better off just beating them to death with it. The gun's pretty heavy but it'll keep its zero afterward

@Crye Salesman well I just saw one on extraction and was curious about them. I was looking at the spiritus lv119 but decided I wanted something that I could potentially load down later on if I wanted and I heard mixed reviews about loading a minimalistic plate carrier with too much stuff causing lower back pain. But guessing about your name what would a Crye cage carrier run me?

Yeah the minimalist pc's are lightweight but aren't as good at distributing weight. Conversely, the cage is good at distributing weight but is much bulkier

Cages are hard to get. AVS would be what you want, loooking around 650 used

@[PA]LM chest rigs or what pouches you use. a friend of mine picked a PTR up and I told him to get a Rhodesian rig for the time being, since he doesn’t have a PC yet

@The_Black_Knight 2x g3 mags will fit in a g36 dual mag pouch. One g3 mag will fit in some ar mag pouches kinda tight. When I get more I'll get m1a or ar10 mag pouches.

Gotcha, he was eyeballing some surplus German stuff too

@The_Black_Knight if a mag pouch is tight, jam the mag in, then some more shit too, then sit it in front of a heater for a few hours

I wouldn't know that but ak mag pouches would be pretty deep for short g3 mags , If it's an ak rig

From doing some looking they were designed for 20rd ak mags or something like that, so they sound like they’re a pretty good fit

But the Rhodesian reproduction rigs are designed for g3/FAL mags

I find sears to be preferable for larger options, if not then it’s not doing you much good

I’m with @pathenryv2 though, only specific steaks should be seared, it’s usually excessive and unneeded

While everyone should have the option to sear their steaks, they should be careful. The carcinogens can harm your dog if you're not careful.

Searing steaks is great indoors or on a grill with two legs to hold up the business end of the grill

Where's the best place to get AR 9 (Glock compatible) stripped lower receivers?

For general kit use under $50 I’d almost go with a gerber freeman guide or buck 877. $75 I’d go with a kbar or a buck nighthawk. I’m not super familiar but ESSE makes some really really good options under $100
