From what I understand, Hodge invented the mount system and a bunch of other companies copied it. Triarc has a rail using a similar mounting system but a different rail design

Zev makes the hodge rails. Only difference is that the hodge ones are made of 7075-T6 aluminum and Zev uses 6061. Also a couple design differences apparently.

They also have an anti rotation pin that slots into a hole drilled in Hodge and Zev upper receivers. It appears the noveske gen 3 upper has the same hole but idk if it lines up the same

Read some testing showing that the zev rail has less deflection than the g$ mk18 rail. When placing a 15 pound weight at 10" from the receiver face, repeatedly, showed an extremely consistent shift of 5moa

while the mk18 was 5.5 and not as consistent

Curious why they chose the Mk18

🙄 well, they purposely made the Mk16 *less* strong at the request of socom/usasoc to make a lighter rifle. It wasn’t designed to do that

I actually have a mk14 on my other one and it's a fantastic rail. My only issue, which is really nitpicking, is that the set screw tabs that center it on the upper seem a bit inelegant compared to the rest of the rail. Idk what it is about it but it just feels like a half assed way of aligning a rail that nice.

Slickster is good but spiritus is higher quality and more modular. You can tailor it to be whatever you want as long as it's minimalist. The slickster is good if you need a low profile budget pc to partially conceal.

i want to save up for a mk23 but i hear they're pretty chunky and my glock 20 is almost too big for my hands and i dont want to drop 2 grand on a pistol just for it to be too big lmao

@Bender I've got a 1:1 model of the mk23 and it's massive. Like you'll hear about how big it is, then you get your hands on one, and realize it's even bigger

9mm USP expert is the only HK pistol that I would buy

They make plenty of great pistols. Their qc and over engineered construction blows most brands out of the water, though the designs are dated

Meh. I've only owned 2 pistols to date anyway. A fuckoff huge .44 mag Redhawk, which was a shitty choice for a first pistol, and a 92FS

The price is high though. There's no reason to get that kind of quality unless you really want it. Normal striker fired pistols are fine, and much better for concealed carry

Can't CCW anyway. It's more of just something I want. I don't have a pistol at the moment anyway, so might as well buy one that I want

USP's are nice. The trigger is fantastic and it's over engineered to the point where it's hard to kill it. I've only ever fired the usp 45 so I don't know what the 9 is like. More recoil than 9 but it's more of a gentle shove compared to a fast punch. Given ballistics and ammo cost, 9 is what I'd recommend unless you're looking to suppress it.

Nah. Can't suppress it either. I've been told both the 9mm and .40 versions are nice shooters

You can get okay Red dots for 70 bucks actually.

TRS-25 and RDS-25 hold zero, and they're sub 100 dollar red dots. And I've even seen them take a beating.

Granted, I wouldn't put the same trust in them as I would an aimpoint. But if they are range guns, or extras, why not?

I own a few TRS-25s and they do the job to a point, not going to knock them too bad but I fully believe they're the exception rather than the rule with sub $100 red dots

That's fair. I would say that TRS-25's and AT3 RD-50s are good value at a lower price. I wouldn't just go buy the first red dot off of amazon though
