Look into the streamlight HL-X rail mount, fairly cheap and good. And cloud defense makes a pressure pad mount
Message permalink: 716753803755651133
Zipties and electrical tape.
Message permalink: 716777927773126786
Fold it along the smooth part between the top and right rail, then lay it over the top on the top pic rail, and lay it along to where you can naturally press the pressure pad.
Message permalink: 716778157662929009
Once it's laid out, secure it with zipties and electrical tape
Message permalink: 716778238210474004
I actually donāt like pressure pads on my white light
Message permalink: 716787480812191824
Constant on lights just make you a target.
Message permalink: 716787597959102555
I turn it on and off with my thumb since itās right there
Message permalink: 716787687465549918
My pressure pad is set to temporary only

Serviceable lights should have that option

So I came into many large capacitors and I need some help deciding should I make a 50 cal coilgun? or a couple EMP grenades? Or both? I have a background in mechanical and electric engineering
Message permalink: 716797449125232640
@Jon Irenicus I I have UF pro. I love them! If you're willing to spend the money get them. The knee pads will come in handy, and are very comfortable.
Message permalink: 716799732282032201
Message permalink: 716799804335849604
A coilgun is a bit more realistic. It takes some serious power to emp anything further than a few inches away. Definitely not grenade size. More like the size of a news camera
Message permalink: 716799826444156948
even with a coilgun, you won't be doing much more than punching holes in empty pop cans

Anyone have experience with shellback plates and carriers? Trustworrhy?
Message permalink: 716800478960418919
the carriers are fine
Message permalink: 716800728693342594
but idk about the plates
Message permalink: 716800756136804403
i would get hesco or hoplite
Message permalink: 716800787988217976
I'd say Hoplite over Hesco Not because Hesco is bad but because Hesco is British TLDR: Fuck. The. Crown.
Message permalink: 716808536738496593
hoplite is what i went with
Message permalink: 716808896697860167
Yeah but I can't turn down a chance to say "fuck the crown"
Message permalink: 716809517379223622
idk the us military uses hesco so one sale here or there wont matter
Message permalink: 716809813559869471
They do make good products but fuck the crown
Message permalink: 716810124920094822
Hesco is much higher quality than hoplite. Hoplite, rather LTC is serviceable but not as good as brands such as hesco, paraclete, and protech
Message permalink: 716820002971320382
Of course it varies plate to plate. Hesco has budget options to, but you're not going to get Hesco 4800 quality out of a hoplite / ltc plate

Any suggestions on a inexpensive but effective chest rig? Iām not looking for a plate carrier, just something to hold a few mags for my primary and secondary
Message permalink: 716822189961117717
Spiritus systems bank robber. Very minimal but inexpensive and good quality
Message permalink: 716822874098237482
Bank robber is sweet, thatās my current grab and go
Message permalink: 716824313311002644
haily strategic does good ones too
Message permalink: 716824498287935528
Though about getting a slickster and running a Hailey chest rig on it.
Message permalink: 716831014638583840
would be great
Message permalink: 716831664055123990
Iām sure that will work
Message permalink: 716831708556820581
could wear it under a sweat shirt and no one would see it
Message permalink: 716831713350778940
Ehhhhhhhhh
Message permalink: 716831773786636340
well minus the chest rig

Message permalink: 716836689707925514
Do I have dumb for opting out of plates
Message permalink: 716837067274977320
Yes
Message permalink: 716838836998504459
I want plates I just am not going to buy them until I can invest in a great set
Message permalink: 716839018146431027
Thats reasonable
Message permalink: 716839062098542672
I figure being faster on my feet is better than being weighed down by heavy plates that may or may not work

Mobility is super important. Especially for these kinds of events were seeing

Iāve been reading a bit on the Hoplite stuff lately. Apparently theyāre rebranding or some shit. Might be complete horseshit made by people but hurt by Lymans views. Also mentioned that the products they get from LTC are āgrade Cā or some shit, which is economy but not as good as the āgrade A or Bā. Could also be horse shit. Tried googling the grades and couldnāt find anything. I have some swimmers from them but Iāve switched back to my HESCO 4800s for the time being until I can get some more clarification. I will point out that a year long sale price is not really a sale since other retailers of the same LTC products sell for around the same price. And some have said that their week to ship times are bogus. I got mine after a month and didnāt care but I can see someone without armor getting a bit peeved at it.
Message permalink: 716851286972301393
All very recent shit from r/tactical gear. So take with a grain of salt.
Message permalink: 716851397609390160
Hoplite has always just been a drop shipper for LTC, and they never tried to hide that. thereās nothing inherently bad about it, and LTC is supposed to make NIJ acceptable armor. But it would be cheaper to just buy from them and avoid the weirdness surrounding hoplite
Message permalink: 716851804792684576
Isn't Hoplite more of a armor designer and distributor, since they have no in house manufacturing capabilities
Message permalink: 716856374604202004
Not even, they just buy armor from LTC and resell it
Message permalink: 716856677281825023
Fair take, I'm not sure why I even rep Hoplite or any armor anymore since I don't run any
Message permalink: 716857156384849951
They might have some exclusives through LTC, which I guess they could have input too.
Message permalink: 716857438749458453
I say designer since lyman holds at least some credit for designing the line HASPs they sell as well as a couple up coming projects
Message permalink: 716857782741106739
Fair enough
Message permalink: 716857831894155276
I donāt have any hate for hoplite, although Iām not in the bandwagon that some facebook pages are with them haah
Message permalink: 716857978522828860
I'm looking forward to their upcoming full body panels, arms, legs, chest with neck guard, it looks really promising
Message permalink: 716858502177488947
Eww, Iāll keep my mobility, thanks.
Message permalink: 716858625246888028
Ye, but for room clearing it would be a nice thing to have
Message permalink: 716859303251804253
Nah still fuck that. If I know Iāll be FISHn Iāll stick side plates in. If I was purposefully gonna do that, Iād consider shoulder plates at max
Message permalink: 716859626242703360
I'm not gonna say I dislike armor or that it's useless for me, but it's a distant third or fourth consideration by my playbook
Message permalink: 716860979610386514
I can understand that. I have my kit sorted well enough to run armor easily
Message permalink: 716861125278302261
I mean I can get a plate carrier and slot it in under my chest rig but it's not really doing me much service currently
Message permalink: 716861839933308949
I almost always wear my armor as concealed as possible
Message permalink: 716862197187346503
Even with the highest quality stand alone plates and extra truma pads you are still gonne be knocked out of a fight for a few moments, not ideal for solos
Message permalink: 716862448446996620
I mean itās better than dying lmao
Message permalink: 716862654999953498
I do enough PT and have spent enough time in it to feel comfortable moving with it
Message permalink: 716862771521650748
Death is preferable to capture, besides they are just gonna double tap your ass anyway
Message permalink: 716863054377254953
My fcpc is the only thing I run side plates in and itās for breaching only
Message permalink: 716863116029329428
Slickster for under the shirt, strandhogg for full kit
Message permalink: 716863193019973642
Some anon said it best
Message permalink: 716863249366384640
Square up with the target and your gtg
Message permalink: 716863286091448321
FCPC is on my list to try
Message permalink: 716863314348736603
Squaring up gay tho
Message permalink: 716863371940462633
And Double taps donāt defeat armor
Message permalink: 716863459899473964
Itās not bad, definitely improved the underflap that retains the plate. By a little.
Message permalink: 716863495706247199
Hard plates absorb all the impact of a round. You won't see any backface deformation until several rounds hit in the same place or a round over its rating hits and doesn't break through.
Message permalink: 716863505902469181
Having your rifle shouldered exposes your sides anyways ššš
Message permalink: 716863553977450667
You may be able to feel getting hit in a hard plate, but it'll be less than the recoil of a rifle distributed across the entire plate by my guess
Message permalink: 716863713684095056
For sure
Message permalink: 716863777680916530
Not advice on kit but take an AR500 plate and wear it then have your friend hit you in the chest with a hammer, it's gonna hurt a helluva lot more than expexted
Message permalink: 716863813131173929
If you have soft armor, you're gonna want a trauma pad though. That shit is nasty if you get hit
Message permalink: 716863904168542248
Man my soft armor got all mildew-y and shit
Message permalink: 716864034183446598
I figure there's no reason to run soft unless you're trying to completely conceal it for whatever reason.
Message permalink: 716864253222715492
I can completely conceal hard rifle plates if I can wear a jacket
Message permalink: 716864348781543428
High profile court cases seem to see them a lot
Message permalink: 716864364983877683
