Look into the streamlight HL-X rail mount, fairly cheap and good. And cloud defense makes a pressure pad mount

Zipties and electrical tape.

Fold it along the smooth part between the top and right rail, then lay it over the top on the top pic rail, and lay it along to where you can naturally press the pressure pad.

Once it's laid out, secure it with zipties and electrical tape

Constant on lights just make you a target.

I turn it on and off with my thumb since it’s right there

My pressure pad is set to temporary only

Serviceable lights should have that option

So I came into many large capacitors and I need some help deciding should I make a 50 cal coilgun? or a couple EMP grenades? Or both? I have a background in mechanical and electric engineering

@Jon Irenicus I I have UF pro. I love them! If you're willing to spend the money get them. The knee pads will come in handy, and are very comfortable.

A coilgun is a bit more realistic. It takes some serious power to emp anything further than a few inches away. Definitely not grenade size. More like the size of a news camera

even with a coilgun, you won't be doing much more than punching holes in empty pop cans

Hesco is much higher quality than hoplite. Hoplite, rather LTC is serviceable but not as good as brands such as hesco, paraclete, and protech

Of course it varies plate to plate. Hesco has budget options to, but you're not going to get Hesco 4800 quality out of a hoplite / ltc plate

Any suggestions on a inexpensive but effective chest rig? I’m not looking for a plate carrier, just something to hold a few mags for my primary and secondary

I’ve been reading a bit on the Hoplite stuff lately. Apparently they’re rebranding or some shit. Might be complete horseshit made by people but hurt by Lymans views. Also mentioned that the products they get from LTC are “grade C” or some shit, which is economy but not as good as the “grade A or B”. Could also be horse shit. Tried googling the grades and couldn’t find anything. I have some swimmers from them but I’ve switched back to my HESCO 4800s for the time being until I can get some more clarification. I will point out that a year long sale price is not really a sale since other retailers of the same LTC products sell for around the same price. And some have said that their week to ship times are bogus. I got mine after a month and didn’t care but I can see someone without armor getting a bit peeved at it.

Hoplite has always just been a drop shipper for LTC, and they never tried to hide that. there’s nothing inherently bad about it, and LTC is supposed to make NIJ acceptable armor. But it would be cheaper to just buy from them and avoid the weirdness surrounding hoplite

I can understand that. I have my kit sorted well enough to run armor easily

I mean I can get a plate carrier and slot it in under my chest rig but it's not really doing me much service currently

I almost always wear my armor as concealed as possible

Even with the highest quality stand alone plates and extra truma pads you are still gonne be knocked out of a fight for a few moments, not ideal for solos

I do enough PT and have spent enough time in it to feel comfortable moving with it

Death is preferable to capture, besides they are just gonna double tap your ass anyway

My fcpc is the only thing I run side plates in and it’s for breaching only

It’s not bad, definitely improved the underflap that retains the plate. By a little.

Hard plates absorb all the impact of a round. You won't see any backface deformation until several rounds hit in the same place or a round over its rating hits and doesn't break through.

Having your rifle shouldered exposes your sides anyways 😂😂😂

You may be able to feel getting hit in a hard plate, but it'll be less than the recoil of a rifle distributed across the entire plate by my guess

Not advice on kit but take an AR500 plate and wear it then have your friend hit you in the chest with a hammer, it's gonna hurt a helluva lot more than expexted

If you have soft armor, you're gonna want a trauma pad though. That shit is nasty if you get hit
