Taking a look at the forward controls design bcg. Seems like everything is over engineered and tested before shipping, with some of the parts designed in collaboration with SOTAR

FCD/roger is some of the smartest designed stuff out there. If you can, listen to him talk about how he designs stuff, it’s beautiful

I've read some of the interviews with him and I love how passionate he seems. I'm a bit of a maximizer, so I love tiny details on seemingly insignificant parts like mag releases

Could I get a barrel length recommendation for an LR-308 I’m building? I don’t care about legality and would like to use it to hunt as well as defense

308 performs very poorly out of short barrels. I'd say 18" at the bare minimum, and 20" is around the standard. You could probably swing 16" but it'll be very loud and suffer a bit in velocity.

Anything shorter than 16" and I'd say look into other calibers like 300 blackout.

Definitely. They're the go to for 308 receivers. The barrels are okayish but nothing great

Probably okay for regular duty but if you want to make 1000 yard shots, I'd suggest a higher end barrel

Well just cause you go shorter doesn’t mean 300blk is the right answer, that’s a very different purpose

If you're wanting to shoot long range, just about any cartridge will require a long barrel. If you just want to hit things hard, there's cartridges like 300blk that will do it out of a short barrel

9mm ar's are also finicky. Only some have lrbho and those ones work half the time. As a first rifle, I typically suggest a serviceable ar15 unless it's a real little kid, then 22

My first rifle I owned was an M1 Carbine, went up to a horrid tapco SKS, and now have an AR. Definitely get an AR or a PCC
