I am sad. My dad was making decent progress picking parts for an ar build, aaaand he slapped a cheap law folder knockoff on it

I've been giving advice when he asks, but then he'll turn around and cheap out on random things

I bought it for my first rifle

and didnt really do any research on it

and they started to see people hate the thing

for good reasons too

*when you go to change your mag but your bolt drops prematurely due to a worn bolt catch sear and get slotted while you're checking the malfunction*

I liked the idea of an extended bolt release but I think im going to just stick milspec or go with the maritime bolt catch

I made the mistake of running an ambi mag release once. It may have been just this particular one but I found out that having my rifle slung would cause my chest rig to depress the button and drop the mag.

I've got a maritime bolt catch and I love it. Nice big paddle but it doesn't get in the way

nice I think I'll most likely end up going with that

struggle is real making a build list... find everything you like but then end up replacing it a week later

My thought is that a high quality rifle should be able to take having the crap beaten out of it, unless it's for some super high end competition where your rifle doesn't even move

Bcm = quality battle rifle. They're inexpensive, tough, and well built

That's basically it plus a drill, preferably a drill press

Larue triggers are nice. They're almost as good as a geissele, but $80

Only noticable difference is the reset. Larue triggers have a longer, slightly mushy reset

Pretty much yeah. They're the single most well vetted Gucci trigger. There's other ones that are as good, but not as well vetted

Basically geissele was trying to make a pro tier trigger that was still reliable, and his uppers in the military liked them so much that they put him on the track to starting a company and getting a contract. The big thing was getting a trigger that nice without putting a weak hammer spring in and causing light strikes

The barrel I'm using isn't some sub moa monster. It's a well balanced, very tight tolerance, very tough chf barrel. Still pretty accurate for chf
