as far as I'm aware, all the 30-06 black tip out there is wwii surplus. There's just a shitload of it out there. The only people who use it compete in CMP matches though

for some reason, black tip is more accurate than regular m1 garand 30-06. Still, very inaccurate compared to modern rounds, but impressive for a gun that old
