It's widely available, extremely flat shooting, and good enough. It's not the most devastating round but there's been a ton of development on it so there's plenty of support. I think it's a good all purpose round. There's better ammo for long range and better stuff for close range, but 5.56 works well for 0-600 yards and has almost no recoil

It's definitely underpowered for long range. Military loads do poke a tiny hole, but modern defensive loads basically explode into supersonic shrapnel when they hit someone

Yeah, the hornady 75gr bthp is what I keep for defensive ammo at the moment. You don't want to use it for target practice, it's way too expensive

Appears to be a standard mil-spec AR with carbine length gas system... With their special handguard. Nothing to write home about, but seems like a decent package. Only thing I'd question is their QC

Funny enough when it comes to shotguns, I prefer pump action. A key skill in shotgun combat (not that I suggest fighting with one) is keeping specialized rounds on a shell holder on your shotgun. If you need the increased range of a slug, you rack the slide, drop a slug in the port, and send it home.

semis are kinda particular in how they like to autoload

Semi autos also tend to have issues with different loadings. Sometimes they don't cycle with certain rounds if tuned to another round

Heavily disagree, keeping your gas system cleaned and lubed will improve your range of ammo that will cycle normally

that's the thing, most people don't know that semis require a lot of lube

Mine will eat trap loads and slugs without noticing a difference
