They sorta snuck it in. Because they only intended to ban AP ammo that can be fired from handguns before rifle caliber handguns were really a thing. When people started making rifle caliber handguns, like AR pistols, all AP ammo can technically be fired from a handgun, so it's all illegal unless it's grandfathered in like 30-06
Message permalink: 720092986829963325
They're just like, oh you want sbr's? Well no more ap ammo
Message permalink: 720093145144098848
Yeah the 24" upper hasn't been very useful
Message permalink: 720093435943452732
What brand is it? Assuming it's a high quality match barrel, cutting it to 18" and threading it can make for one sweet marksman rifle

AND NO AR 15 probs does not support .338 lapua unless they have a bolt action upper for it
Message permalink: 720098738546278432
The further you're shooting, the less semi auto matters. The military is actually going back to bolt guns because by the time your round hits, you have another round chambered and you're waiting to see where the round lands
Message permalink: 720098752572031067
did they out law the bolt upper btw
Message permalink: 720098854514720839
Still makes sense for intermediate distances, but not if you're shooting at 1000 yards or further most of the time
Message permalink: 720098897795743796
also laupa brass is more expensive then 50bmg
Message permalink: 720099021133447259
but i can load them on a rock chucker
Message permalink: 720099094823174195
5o bmg is too long
Message permalink: 720099116541149284
338 lapua brass is probably manufactured to more exacting standards because it's a precision round. 50bmg isn't meant for precision
Message permalink: 720099282106974269
correct
Message permalink: 720099327879675976
> The further you're shooting, the less semi auto matters. The military is actually going back to bolt guns because by the time your round hits, you have another round chambered and you're waiting to see where the round lands @Confused uhhhh the M110 and CSASS are very real
Message permalink: 720099362537078837
lapua brass is some of the best made brass
Message permalink: 720099389179166810
lasts longer then normal brass
Message permalink: 720099459622633554
And the 107 was never meant to replace the mk13 and shit
Message permalink: 720099499024056331
The listed effective range of the m110 is what, 1000 yards? More of an intermediate between the m4 and higher power rifles. Granted there's so many variables in shooting past that range that idk if it's worth it
Message permalink: 720099694725824572
imo as a hunter any thing past 600 is too far
Message permalink: 720099861252407336
The designers of its replacement figured that if you can have another round chambered by the time your fired round hits, any extra moving parts just decrease reliability.
Message permalink: 720099985454268437
yes this makes since but you wont allways be shooting that far
Message permalink: 720100111287320611
Which is why often times, sniper rifles are carried in a bag on their back while they hold an m4
Message permalink: 720100265306619944
then its fine
Message permalink: 720100313448841236
i only carry a primary and secondary this aint fucking cod
Message permalink: 720100466540675143
Depends on the mission. Sometimes they're carrying a regular rifle to be effective and switch when they get into position. Sometimes they're just carrying a long range rifle while everyone else is protecting them because they're a counter sniper for example
Message permalink: 720100711412531230
well you see i think of the world through the eyes of a hunter
Message permalink: 720100743511801937
if the deer start shooting back i am going to shit my self
Message permalink: 720100795244216321
that said if i were in a tactical mission where i was getting shot at i would still only have 2 guns
Message permalink: 720100960499663050
it just went from bubba mauser and a glock to ar 15 and a glock
Message permalink: 720101059594551328
also I got that wrong, replacement to the sr25 I think? Same rifle, different branch. idk
Message permalink: 720101132822904835
I’ve carried more than 2 guns out on calls plenty of times
Message permalink: 720101170202542112
CSASS is the new H&K army one.

Pistol, M4 or 416, shotgun, SASS. Then crew served shit too.
Message permalink: 720101513988669440
Yeee, it’s a new procurement thing. Army replacing the SR25 in some units
Message permalink: 720101627897577556
It’s an H&K 417 with a schmidty iirc
Message permalink: 720101871284518973
tbh all I know about the mrad is that it looks hot and flannel daddy shot it in a video
Message permalink: 720102136712790028
Yeah the marines just got the new 13, it sounds like they’re mostly ignoring the 40a6 since the new gun is so much better and the only advantage of the a6 is a few ounces iirc
Message permalink: 720102783768068167
It sounds like everyone does it at home. I haven't read much about the process but it's likely much cheaper to do large batches than individual ones
Message permalink: 720106127106506773
Plus there might be an ffl hassle
Message permalink: 720106272330088538

I was just working on a savage today. Not a big fan
Message permalink: 720118075298676736
Also howa. They sell some nice barreled actions that you can throw in a chassis. From what I understand, the qc on the Remington just isn't there anymore but the parts support is, so if you find a used one it may be a good deal
Message permalink: 720118427385200681
Yeah a howa barreled action is a decent idea
Message permalink: 720118555844149331
I was considering building one with a howa barreled action but decided to build another ar instead. My old one is about the right size for my fiance
Message permalink: 720118934141009980
thanks gents
Message permalink: 720119076600676454
i like that howa uses houge stocks tho
Message permalink: 720119186877186058
It was neat researching precision guns. There's stocks out there that cost twice what the rifle itself will, or more
Message permalink: 720119768677613619
yes its neat
Message permalink: 720119826210619453
i want a Christenson
Message permalink: 720119873409253376
Looked into them and apparently their products are shit
Message permalink: 720120243959365661
Horrible bedding and the zero wanders wildly. Barrel touching the stock. The guys at christensen said they'd charge to fix it and sending it to a gunsmith would void the warranty
Message permalink: 720120992332251186
LSS gen 2 howa chassis, $450 Howa barreled action, under 400 if you get it at the right place. People report 1/2 moa with factory match ammo and sometimes under with hand rolled stuff but idk how much of that is people getting lucky with 3 shot groups instead of doing a full 10
Message permalink: 720123296984596490
@Mechromansir you should read the snipers hide forum discussions on the Christensen
Message permalink: 720123489910128642
> any reccomenmdations for a 308 hunting rifle or DMR? dont wannt go beyond $800. @ me @[IL-LAKE]weinersinabun Remington 700 is your best bet. Barrels last a lifetime, action is reliable and relatively smooth.
Message permalink: 720123509900050432
Barrel life always depends on round count. If you shoot a lot of precision rounds, you'll have to have the barrel changed eventually. Thankfully 308 will last you about twice as long as 6.5 creedmoor
Message permalink: 720123963216494612
Around 5-6k rounds for 308 until you start losing accuracy
Message permalink: 720124071077085205
Still serviceable past that though
