I keep 2 in my bag

A sling and a rock tends to be more consistently accurate than an m14
Message permalink: 721049085532045513
Are you suggesting he gives up his m14 for a sling and a rock?
Message permalink: 721049227421155389
If thats what the guy has, theres no need to dog him for not having a tier 1 ar
Message permalink: 721049404458401895
👌 Jokes aside, entire courses could be taught on the history of the m14's creation, and it's not pretty. Objectively the worst rifle ever fielded by the US military
Message permalink: 721049512235368470
I'd suggest a low-mid tier ar. You can get a rifle much more capable for the same price
Message permalink: 721049657458819112
Gun is gun, if go bang and use common bullet it work
Message permalink: 721049910614425662
Totally agree with you on that point. But not everyone can bust out cash for a new rifle just because
Message permalink: 721049927932706979
A new m1a tends to cost around 1.4k. Idk what they go for used but you can get a solid duty rifle for that price
Message permalink: 721050170560741376
But if you already have one it is perfectly serviceable
Message permalink: 721050530117451838
Perfectly is a strong word, but i wouldnt say throw it in the trash
Message permalink: 721050668726485064
It will *probably* go bang and you can hit a torso within 100 yards even when the zero wanders
Message permalink: 721050829104087071
Perfectly servicable, as in as it can be used just as well if you train with it, should've specified
Message permalink: 721050879741919293
If hes well trained with it then i see no issue
Message permalink: 721051091676037252
Its 7.62 so ammo will be no issue, unless its the fucked up one that used 30-06
Message permalink: 721051236228661278
@Confused genuine question for ya. Why does everyone have a boner for 5.56?
Message permalink: 721051792942563428
It's widely available, extremely flat shooting, and good enough. It's not the most devastating round but there's been a ton of development on it so there's plenty of support. I think it's a good all purpose round. There's better ammo for long range and better stuff for close range, but 5.56 works well for 0-600 yards and has almost no recoil
Message permalink: 721052517064245330
It may be a basic bitch round but it works well
Message permalink: 721052595279364238
Plus its plentiful
Message permalink: 721052681074114672
Its everywhere
Message permalink: 721052702972313624
Okay, ive always thought that it was kind of an underpowered for long range. And its not super effective for devastating wounds.
Message permalink: 721053147388313642
It seems like a round designed to poke a tiny hole
Message permalink: 721053245371449354
it opens with a tiny hole
Message permalink: 721053362816024668
it can cavitate pretty well
Message permalink: 721053390360150199
It's definitely underpowered for long range. Military loads do poke a tiny hole, but modern defensive loads basically explode into supersonic shrapnel when they hit someone
Message permalink: 721053518093353051
"Not everyone needs a specops grade AR" is nearing some Fudd shit.
Message permalink: 721053531469250652
Everyone needs a good Toyota Camry of a rifle. Nothing fancy, just a solid 1-1.5k ar
Message permalink: 721053708590252157
I'd agree. Doesn't even have to be AR, can be AK if that floats their boat.
Message permalink: 721053796930814044
Im probably a fudd.
Message permalink: 721053910055518385
But everyone should have a good reliable rifle.
Message permalink: 721053929508569189
I just bought my first ar 2 months ago, its serviceable but not fantastic
Message permalink: 721054082110062614
Who makes it?
Message permalink: 721054158010056735
Diamondhead

Message permalink: 721054383260958861
Yeah, I see that, lol
Message permalink: 721054464483786843
It must be a small company.
Message permalink: 721054484561657986
Those lists, especially the second one, are very flawed though
Message permalink: 721054493734731846
Serial number 00023
Message permalink: 721054531521347766
They have interesting handguards
Message permalink: 721054575662202880
Here's some interesting stuff about modern 5.56 loads
Message permalink: 721054646893936680
Theyve made less guns than ive owned lol
Message permalink: 721054651528511539
Message permalink: 721054723787980841
What model do you have? This actually seems like a decent company.
Message permalink: 721054865110859797
Thats a damn good question
Message permalink: 721054929887821945
One sec
Message permalink: 721054955649106031
Dh-15 model 4
Message permalink: 721055243999117322
Looks like each model goes up by 100 bucks, looks decent.
Message permalink: 721055474757402667
Keep in mind that chart showing 556 penertration and fragmentation is for a 75gr projectile
Message permalink: 721055559520092171
I wouldnt bet my life on it. But its fun to plink steel with
Message permalink: 721055620731764938
I would be interested to see what the xm855 looks like on that chart
Message permalink: 721055725324861531
Yeah, the hornady 75gr bthp is what I keep for defensive ammo at the moment. You don't want to use it for target practice, it's way too expensive
Message permalink: 721056015453388872
```fix I see you're asking which ammo in X caliber is best for self defense again. Reference this article with data by DocGKR, an actual fucking doctor. ``` http://www.ar15.com/ammo/project/self_defense_ammo_FAQ/
Message permalink: 721056066217050152
Appears to be a standard mil-spec AR with carbine length gas system... With their special handguard. Nothing to write home about, but seems like a decent package. Only thing I'd question is their QC
Message permalink: 721056125549543485
Like i said, its decent. But im not betting my life on it.
Message permalink: 721056247998316667
I like IMI 77gr Razor Core, of course I'm testing my luck using it in an Anderson AR
Message permalink: 721056264427274381
I keep my 12 ga handy for home defense.
Message permalink: 721056418639249449
I kinda want a M26 MASS to mount on my AR
Message permalink: 721056620154716191
What 12 ga do you run and what load?
Message permalink: 721056684436619315
I'm a fan of 12 ga
Message permalink: 721056741793595443
Cannibal, you take that back. Lmao
Message permalink: 721056765495607364
Rem 1100 with buckshot and slugs alternating
Message permalink: 721056792179900466
A masterkey would be bitchin
Message permalink: 721056862581031013
Which part sentinal, IMI 77gr in an Anderson or an underslung 12ga on it?
Message permalink: 721056940079448117
the semi auto remington is a good option
Message permalink: 721056977026940998
personally I like the mossberg 930 but that's mainly due to my experience with it
Message permalink: 721057064314470431
With 12 rounds of buckshot and slugs i figure i can keep anyone at bay.
Message permalink: 721057148204744745
oh yeah, absolutely
Message permalink: 721057186758918214
I shot some ar500 with it, put a good 3 in dent in it.
Message permalink: 721057289196404860
I like semi-auto 12ga shottys but I really really dispise not being able to get one I can safely use 3 1/2" shells in
Message permalink: 721057371857879120
An M26
Message permalink: 721057382414811267
It's a straight-pull action Shotgun with reliability issues.
Message permalink: 721057454640857158
getting hit in the armor with a 12 ga slug would probably be one of the last mistakes you make
Message permalink: 721057461964111872
at least one of the last your ribcage makes lol
Message permalink: 721057547892686908
You'd be better with a pistol-gripped Mossy 500
Message permalink: 721057596257206364
> I like semi-auto 12ga shottys but I really really dispise not being able to get one I can safely use 3 1/2" shells in @Cannibal1-1 benelli m4
Message permalink: 721057633162887188
Funny enough when it comes to shotguns, I prefer pump action. A key skill in shotgun combat (not that I suggest fighting with one) is keeping specialized rounds on a shell holder on your shotgun. If you need the increased range of a slug, you rack the slide, drop a slug in the port, and send it home.
Message permalink: 721057880643469432
personally I would prefer a pump over a semi in an actual combat situation as well
Message permalink: 721058022746750997
semis are kinda particular in how they like to autoload
Message permalink: 721058089192914975
Semi autos also tend to have issues with different loadings. Sometimes they don't cycle with certain rounds if tuned to another round
Message permalink: 721058103319330908
yeah
Message permalink: 721058129306976288
your loads have to have the same pressure and powder
Message permalink: 721058176367329310
I have an old 1897 Winchester. Things wicked nasty on the range, but it only hold 4 shells
Message permalink: 721058188933332993
Plus shell length varies and that can mess stuff up
Message permalink: 721058199234412686
also underpowered ammo will not cycle at all
Message permalink: 721058246496092240
you can't run cheap ass target load in a semi, it won't cycle
Message permalink: 721058331221032991
I think semis are fun as hell
Message permalink: 721058452394475561
but I would rather have a manually operated shotty if I had to use one in combat
Message permalink: 721058547302924299
Heavily disagree, keeping your gas system cleaned and lubed will improve your range of ammo that will cycle normally
Message permalink: 721058565154013224
that's the thing, most people don't know that semis require a lot of lube
Message permalink: 721058701850575000
Mine will eat trap loads and slugs without noticing a difference
Message permalink: 721058705323589713
*laughs in toggle lock*
Message permalink: 721058813880565780
I believe that your gun does that because you take care of it
Message permalink: 721058878929895424
but I have first hand experience with how sticky they get
Message permalink: 721058953404088371
Well yes, but any gun is only as good as its maintenance plan
Message permalink: 721059000073846905
"If you cant clean it you shouldnt own it" is the line i grew up with
Message permalink: 721059132987277437
also maybe putting 75 shells of buck through a 930 in a short time probably didn't help any lol
Message permalink: 721059191934025809
Yeah, probably not the greatest idea
Message permalink: 721059266424864820
